The Islands

The Brissago Islands (Isola Grande and Isola Piccola) are a landscape, naturalistic, and historical heritage of inestimable value.

Created in 1885 by Baroness Antoinette St. Leger, the Botanical garden of the Isola Grande is a unique site in Switzerland. With more than 2’000 subtropical plants species, it performs an important didactic and scientific function, attracting an audience of experts and enthusiasts, adults and children.
