It manufactures pharmaceuticals for drugs companies all over the world, including Europe, Australia, the United States and Japan, as well as many emerging markets. The research carried out by the two main manufacturing divisions (chemical and biological) includes work that aims to improve the products used in various fields of medicine: dermatology, respiratory medicine and oncology.

Cerbios-Pharma SA has been based in Barbengo since 1994, the year the new company was established

• Cerbios-Pharma SA was set up as a result of the merger of three large Ticino-based pharmaceutical companies;
• since it was founded, the company has not moved from its headquarters in Barbengo, and has expanded its premises on various occasions;
• it has been one of the leading members of the association of chemical and pharmaceutical industries Farma Industria Ticino (FIT) for several years.

• 41: the number of international trade fairs and conferences Cerbios-Pharma SA attended between 2010 and 2015, more than one every two months. The countries visited most frequently by the firm's representatives include the USA, Germany, Japan and India;
• 5000: the capacity in litres of one of the bioreactors in the Barbengo factory,  large enough to hold a small car;
• several million: the number of Bioflorin capsules produced every year by the Barbengo plant, which supplies this product to the global market.

Cerbios-Pharma SA is a world leader in the field of reduced folates, which are essential substances in many treatments for cancer and other illnesses. Technological developments have also allowed the company to use high containment systems for high activity active ingredients, with doses calculated to the nearest one millionth of a gram. The number of private facilities worldwide able to work at such a microscopic level can be counted on two hands.
